I refer this about a PowerEdge 2950 released in Oct. 2010.
BIOS version is 2.7.0.
PERC 5/i firmware version is 5.2.2-0072.
SATA Connector 0 shows 4 disks (from 0:0:0 to 0:0:3);
SATA Connector 1 shows 2 disks (1:0:0 and 1:0:1).
RAID-5 arrays are set as follows:
"sys" (3 disks, from 0:0:0 to 0:0:2)
"data" (3 disks, 0:0:3 AND 1:0:0 and 1:0:1).
As you can see, there's a disk, 0:0:3, that belongs to connector 0 but is also combined with the disks from connector 1 to form the "data" RAID-5 array... o_O
I realised it when recently I replaced a failed disk, connected as 0:0:0. I really can't say if anything has changed after the replacement... Nothing found in OpenEdge to help me to understand if this could be an issue or not.
I'm available for any further explanation. Looking forward.
