Disk Drive replaced boot errors

$

We had a Dell Tech on site a few weeks ago to replace a disk drive in the server. All has been working fine, until a reboot of the server today for Windows Patches.

Now the below error is displayed.

Some configured disks have been removed from your system, or are no longer accessible. Check your cables and ensure all disks are present. Press any key or 'C' to continue.

I pressed enter and all booted up correctly, but I think there is still something I need to address. Any future reboots I'm guessing will have the same result.

Can someone link me to the fix for this, or process to update the configured disk settings.

Thanks!

Virtualizing an R610 With Existing RAID Puncture?

Got a physical R610 with a drive showing as failed. Replaced it with no joy. Also see in the event logs that the RAID has a "puncture".

We were getting ready to do a P2V (VMWare physical to virtual) conversion on this box. Any issues with going ahead and doing the P2V or do we need to rebuild the array first?

Thanks.

I have a T410 that is blue screening. Perc s300 BIOS shows a degraded status with all four drives online. We are running  Raid 10. Windows attempts to repair startup issues but can't find drives. I need to find the correct driver files to load into windows repair. I've downloaded the setup file and extracted the files but which files should I point too?

Thanks!

Error E1810 Fault

Hello,

I have a Dell Power Edge 2900 with a Perc 6/i controller version 1.11.82-0473.  The display shows error "E1810" fault on HDD 2 and HDD 4.  The two bad drives are blinking Orange. The controller is configured in raid 5 and shows the Raid status as offline.  Under "VD Mgmt" 2 hard drives are showing missing.  Under "PD Mgmt" just 3 are showing online and the other two are not showing up at all.  Since 2 of the drives are missing, can I rebuild the array?  Any help on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have a RAID 5 with three 10k drives and one 15k. I would like to replace the 15k drive with an extra 10k drive, so that I can use the 15k drive on a different server.

What's the best way to do that?

Thanks,

Ken

PowerEdge T420 Raid Configuration script

I have over 200 T420 servers to deploy. I need an automated solution to set the RAID and bios settings during imaging. I'm new to Dell servers and exhausted with searching for an answer. I normally deploy images very simply by using MDT for in house  and pure PE for field techs. Could someone help with a Dell utility, Powershell script or vbscript?

Dell R610 motherboard replacement model number

Since I haven't got any further with the  E1000 Failsafe voltage error. Contact support. The next thing to do I guess is replace the motherboard of the Dell R610. Looking on eBay there are a number of different model / serial numbers that are mentioned Eg: F0XJ6, 3YWXK, XDN97, 0NCY41 08GXHX and others. What is the motherboard model / serial number I should actually be using for replacement in this Dell R610 which has this failsafe voltage error? Are there other serial numbers this depends on?

(Maybe I am not looking in the right place but even when I enter the service tag in the support web site I can't find the serial number of the motherboard... Let alone if I should be getting the same motherboard again or maybe a "better" one?)

Thanks!

PowerEdge1800. Can I re-install Windows without Screwing Up D: Partition?

$

Our old Poweredge1800, win2k3sp2, has a perc raid with 3 drives. The machine stops booting at acpitabl.dat. I've booted into the recovery console from the CD, and chkdsk shows unrecoverable errors on C:\ I've been unable to even view a directory of C:\Windows, so I'm guessing that's where the errors are.

Here's the nut of the problem: I need to copy some directories off the D:\ partition to an external USB hard drive. We have NO good backups of these particular directories. It's quite irritating that Recovery Console doesn't let me access anything below D:\. Is there a known procedure for:

1. Re-installing or repairing the C:\Windows\ directory, WITHOUT damaging the D:\ partition, or

2. A bootable CD image that will allow access to the D:\ drive.

I know, I should have backups, and I do, for most things. These files were just updated the day before this system took a nose-dive.

Hi

Sorry for the newbie question but I have the following scenario, (which i have no experience dealing old servers)

we have a set of old servers (DELL PowerEdge 2950) which are migrating to new one (IBM X Flex), one of the old server is MOSS 2007 with 2 HDD, suddenly primary HDD is dead and in setup menu giving missing. i removed on HDD from another old server and mounted to the MOSS 2007 server and initialized it. the question is how i can replace the dead HDD with new one and copy the configurations from other live HDD

please if you need in further information just ask for it in replies because am new to this servers with 0% experience

thank you

---------------UPDATE-------------

the current RAID is RAID 0 and i found a windows backup file (from previous system admin) so is it possible to format both HDD, configure RAID to be RAID 1, install windows, then restore the backup?

also i was reading this article "  " but i could not change the RAID, so any suggestion?

IDE boot disk

I have a PowerEdge 840 which I am planning on using as a media server using Openmediavault.  I'd like to use all 4 sata drives for storage, OMV has to reside on its own disk and it's not recommended to use a usb drive.  If I bought a PCI-E IDE card could I then use that for the boot disk and still control the raid array on the 4 sata ports?  Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks.

PowerEdge R320 installing a SSD in place of the optical drive

$

I'm new to Dell servers but am trying to replace the optical drive with a SSD for a boot disk.  The back plane is only 4x and those I want to use the existing 3.5" drives for RAID.

We bought a power adapter for the regular size SATA power, the cable says SATA / TBU which I don't know what that means.  With the SSD powered, the server will not boot and has an error about the 5v rail out of range.

Anyone have any ideas or an alternate way to install a 2.5" drive?

PERC H200 won't recognize 4TB hard drives

PERC H200 in a PowerEdge T310 running HyperV Server 2012 R2.
Thought I could update the firmware and that might resolve it. But when I tried the command line utility and the standard exe they both stated that it was an unsupported operating system.

I really don't want to install an OS on another drive just so I can update the firmware so it might work.

Anyone else run into this or know of a compatible download?
Or maybe why it doesn't work?

PERC 4e/Di driver will not install

$

I have an old 6850.  We are trying to work out of a bad situation with it. I have it all up and running except have no visibility to PERC. In OMSA, (and other places) it says I need PERC 4e/Di driver 6.46.2.32.

I go out and obtain this exact driver. When I install it, it errors out saying "the update package is not compatible with any of the devices detected in your system".

That's not correct, since OMSA says this is the proper driver. I have also tried other drivers and none work. I feel that this is the correct one but it won't install.

Anyone have ideas?

Critical Error during Patrol Read on a PERC H310

Hello,

I have a Dell T420 with a PERC H310. This morning during a patrol read, there was a critical error on PD7. And then it looks like PD2 which is a hot spare started having issues. PD2 went from Online/Powersave to Unconfigured Bad and Device Removed. Now I cannot see the slot number 2 at all within MegaRaid while PD7 shows as Online. Removing and reinserting PD2 has no effect.

Few relevant email logs attached.

Please advise!

Thank you!

R430 embedded sata speed?

$

I know a proper RAID device will be MUCH better However humour me.

"Embedded sata" is an option on the dell configuration page, all I wish to know is

1) The speed,.(in AHCI)

2) Is the speed the same when in (cough) "RAID" (fakeraid)

I have an H200 card in a PowerEdge T110 II Server.

I am planning on replacing the two 1TB drives (in RAID1) with two 3TB drives, but can't find any up to date info on wether the H200 will support 3TB drives.

The firmware is 07.03.06.00 and the driver version is 2.00.35.10.
