I've just acquired a a PE2650 and put in 5 new 146Gb drives. In the RAID configuration manager it will only show 4 of the drives. The drive in bay 4 has a green light on the caddy, but will not show up anywhere. I can swap drives from a different bay and the same thing happens. I'd like to setup the drive in bay 0 without raid, and the other 4 in raid 10 configurations. Any thoughts?
PE2650 only sees 4 drives
T110 no hard drive detect during OS installation
I recently purchase Dell T110 with 4 physical drives (1TB each). Boot in raid controller, build virtual disk as 5, 1+0, or initialize all drives to non-raid disk.
When booting from dvd-rom, and get into OS installation, it went through properly. However when ask to select hard drive to install the OS, none hard drive was detect. Tried windows 2008 R2, and CantOS, same issue.
Reach Dell support, and they ask me to install Dell life cycle controller before install OS.
Anyone has some idea what setting goes wrong?
PowerEdge T310 with H200 won't create Raid 1 array with 2 x SATA 1TB drives
I have had one of the original Seagate 1TB SAS drives in my PET310 server show as 'Failure predicted' and performance of the disk system now seems very bad. I have 2 x SATA drives of the same size I want to install and set up with Raid 1 and then do a full system restore from the SBS 2008 backup disc. When I try to create the Raid 1 array in the controller utility, it goes away to do some processing but when it comes back it says it is degraded and only shows one disc in the array, showing the other drive as 'Missing'. The firmware version installed is 7.01.09.00 which I realise is out of date but which surely must do the basic stuff with SATA or Dell would never have been able to sell servers with a SATA configuration. Even if I did try to upgrade the firmware there does not appear to be any other way to do that other than from a windows utility which I am not in a position to run.
Ignoring this issue just for a moment, if I simply put in a single disc and then try the restore from backup I get the error 'The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057). I understand this is often associated with the case where the drive organisation you are trying to restore to does not match what the backup has. However, my server does not have multiple disc sets or other drives so it should only need a single partition on which to restore the 3 volumes in the backup. Even though there is not a Virtual Raid partition in this situation, the restore should still just sees a drive of the right size is available. I tried the same thing with a 2TB drive in case the sizes were minutely different but I think it would have told me the size was wrong if that had been the case. This failed with the same message.
My questions are these:
1. Is there not a utility to upgrade the firmware for an H200 other than from a Windows utility which means you have to have a running OS to execute it from?
2. Does the H200 on version 7.01.09.00 support normal Raid 1 with 2 x SATA 1TB Western Digital 1003FBYZ drives?
3. What could the cause be of the 0x80070057 error that will stop me restoring even if I do get the array up and working.
Would really appreciate some help here, I just have the weekend to sort this before returning the server.
Thanks
Poweredge 320 Server with speed issues when accessed over network.
We bought a poweredge 320 server end of 2013. It was configured originally with the PERC 310 controller which as a lot of people have found is completely inadequate. As every time someone copied large files over the network, everything slowed down for anyone else accessing.
I upgraded to a H710 card, which improved things so it was usable. However recently i've put our creatives stuff on there, and we're experiencing lag again when large files are being copied that caused they're adobe documents to freeze and lockup.
O/S is on RAID 0 SAS 2 x 1 TB disks on first channel of RAID card.
Shares are on RAID 5 with 4 x 4TB SAS disks, 2 of which on first channel and 2 of which on second channel of RAID card. Unsure whether this is the aspect causing the issue, but this was how dell configured.
Server is running Windows 2012. I am tempted to reinstall the 310 card and put the OS hard drives on that and then maybe resetup the existing 4 drives as 2 RAID 5 array by adding two more drives. I could equally put the 4 on the same channel, but my thought here is to put the creative stuff on a seperate array for greater performance for them.
Any thoughts on how to solve or further diagnose issue would be welcome. I am reasonably sure there is no network issue.
H310 HBA monitoring
Hello
I'm running Dell Perc H310 HBA's on my ESXi 5.5 (free version) supermicro server.
Can someone help me understand how I can monitor my internal SAS drives with this setup?
I have 2 H310's, 1 HBA with a RAID1 group and a RAID 10 group and the other HBA with a RAID 1 group - so overall I have 3 VD's presented to ESX. How do I monitor for failed/failing HDD/SSD's?
Thank you very much I've been trying to figure this out for quite a while now.
RAID 1 & Server 2008 in Dell T320
How to Configure RAID1 and install Windows Server 2008 in Dell T320? Please help me.
Manage/create/change RAID on running VMware host without reboot.
Hi,
i want to know if this is possible to manage (change) configuration of Dell RAID controller on running VMware host.
For example if I add some disks to the DAS storage shelves connected to H800 controller, I need to configure RAID on these new disks and add new datastore in vCenter without rebooting the machine.
Is it possible?
My config:
Dell PowerEdge R710 server with iDRAC 6 Enterprise
Dell PERC H700 internal storage controller
Dell PERC H800 external storage controller with two DAS disk shelves
VMware 5.5 booting from SDcard
vCenter 5.5 with Dell OpenManage Integration Plugin 2
Through Open Manage Integratilon tab in vCenter i see both controllers and all disks but cannot perform any operation.
Encryption PERC H800 and H700 in R610 server
I'm a little confused about the methods of enabling encryption on a PERC H800 and H700 in a Dell R610. This may be LKM versus DKM.
After I successfully created the passphrase, the options changed to delete the passphrase, change it, or "save to DKM" or similar wording. When I selected this DKM option, the option failed. What is this DKM option? I am able to lock the virtual drives with the passphrase.
Is the optimum configuration for an H800 in a Dell R610 to enable the TPM chip in the computer bios and have the TPM chip interact with the PERC H800 and H700?
We also have an R620 with H710 and H810-- would I take the same approach, or is Local Key Management preferred (LKM).
I do have all self-encrypting drives attached to the RAID card.
PERC H710 Mini and PowerEdge M620
I've got a few PowerEdge M620 that were supplied with a SD cards only. I've been using them to run ESXi for the last few years. I've now been asked to transfer everything over to Hyper-V. After contacting Dell they sent out SAS drives and a PERC H710. It turns out that the back plain was for SATA drives, these have been returned and SATA drives sent out.
The on board S110 can pick the drives up but the PERC H710 can't see the drives at all.
Does anyone know what I'm missing?
T320 Step by Step Setup - Creating RAID 1 to OS Installation!
Dear All,
First of all thank you reading this, we just purchased a new Dell PowerEdge T320 Server for our (SMB) company with the standard specs.
Intel Xeon E5-v2 Processor
2 x 4GB Memory
2 x 2TB HDD (Hot Plug In)
Dual Power Supply (495W Each / Hot Plug In)
PERC h310 Integrated RAID Controller.
Now the question is I want to setup my new server with RAID 1 & want to install Windows Server 2008 R2 on it. I've done R&D from Dell Support Site and some other websites too, now getting more confused to where to start [*-)] I didn't even turn on the server yet [:$]
Could anyone please tell me Step by Step Setup guide so I can configure my RAID 1 and then install the Windows Server 2008 R2 on it? As I've seen/searched here on community pages seen the same question asked by many but couldn't find Step by Step guide.
Thank you!
P.S.: If i forgot to mention anything regarding my query please do let me know so I can provide the remaining info (if any)

VRTX - Server/Fabric/PERC/Virtual Disk - Understanding component failures
I'm trying to better understand the internal workings of the VRTX. Here is my setup to aid in my question:
Hyper-V 2012 failover cluster with 1 M520 as DC and 3 M620s as host servers with two mezz cards for fabric B and C.
Dual SPERC controllers (CSV and Witness virtual disks controlled by SPERC 1 and SPERC 2 as failover/backup)
I notice that the SPERCs are each connected to a fabric switch (SPERC 1 --> Fabric B Switch and SPERC 2 --> Fabric C switch).
What would happen if I were to have a fabric switch failure? Lets say its Fabric B switch, so I lose access to SPERC 1 and, consequently, my virtual disks. Since nothing is wrong with SPERC 1, will my virtual disks failover to SPERC 2?
And if anyone knows Hyper-V well enough, say the PCIe Mezz B card fails in one of my M620s, will the VMs on that host failover because they can't reach the CSV anymore?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

dell c6100 is it possible to raid1 the internal drives
Hello,
We have a Dell C2100 and have installed 2 ssds in the internal drive bays. We have a H700 that sees the 12 drives in the front drive bays ... how does one create a raid1 on the two internal drive bays ?
The two internal drives are sitting on the sata0 and sata1 ports.
Thanks
RAID 5 with hot spare failed disk-can the drive be hot swapped?
One of our R710's has a drive being reported as 'failed'-is there anything that has to be done before swapping it? Here's a brief summary of our configuration:
- PERC 6/i controller
- Drives configured in a RAID 5 with hot spare-hot spare replaced failed drive.
- Firmware version-6.2.0-0013
- Driver version-4.05.01.64
- Storport Driver Version-6.1.7601.17577
This is a production server, so whatever needs to be done can't be disruptive, or I'll have to wait until COB.
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.

Dell PowerEdge 1800 Raid/SCSI Problem
I have dell poweredge server 1800, in which Linux was installed. I removed scsi Hard disks because i wanted to plug a single sata drive in it just for testing purpose. In this testing phase i remove everything related to SCSI disks such as Proc Card and board cables and SCSI Disks. after successful sata test i want it back but as i havent check the settings of previous configured SCSI Drives. After plugging card cables and drives i went to CTRL + M settings and found that drives are not on line. i search on the internet for configure them again and i made them onilne with Raid0, there wasn't any other Raid 1,2,5 etc options. So i chose Raid0 which was selected by default. I check the adapter option where i select drive as mass storage and also enable bios. I created logical drives and it shows that drives are detected by the bios and Raid. In System Bios >>integrated devices >> first option which is scsi controller is on. second option sata drive is set to ATA. Now I am getting error that no boot device available. I think i am missing something. Or i configured raid there and i also have to set Raid in System bios where SATA drives option is set to ATA? If i choose this option then it will gonna removed everything. Now i want to get it back. My question is this can i configure scsi drives like they were before and boot from one of the drive? Thank you for your support in advance

conflict between I217 and I218 NIC drivers during OSD in SCCM
Hi Guys,
We have an issue here with NIC drivers conflict during OSD in SCCM environment. We have received some new models(T7910,E7250,M2800,etc....) to our organization and we had M6800,6440,... as well. We were trying to inject new model NIC drivers into our existing WinPE and installed successfully. Now, old systems are not getting add into domain and some new systems (T7910,M2800,..) as well except E7250. When gone through this, I could find that E7250 is using I218 NIC and others are using I217. This conflict make us difficulty to keep single winPE for both the models. We cann't keep different WinPEs for each model. Please help me to make single winPE for all models.
